About This Project

Development of a tourist village on an uninhabited island near the coastal front of Attica

The project focused on developing a comprehensive methodology, certification framework, and implementation process for the sustainable development of Greek islands. ARISE ARCHITECTS developed a structured certification framework based on key indicators covering sustainability, infrastructure, governance, and quality of life, providing a consistent basis for evaluating and benchmarking island development.
The methodology incorporates a multi-criteria evaluation system using measurable indicators to assess environmental performance, infrastructure, economic activity, and the quality and availability of social services. Each island is evaluated through a standardized process involving data collection and analysis, scoring, and validation procedures, ensuring consistency and transparency across the assessment process.
The framework establishes a certification cycle through which islands undergo assessment, approval by the relevant authorities, and periodic reassessment. By providing a transparent and evidence-based tool for monitoring performance and progress, the system supports strategic planning, sustainable development policies, and informed decision-making by regional and national authorities.
