The project involves the design and construction of the Heraklion Student Residences in Crete, focusing on bioclimatic and energy-efficient principles. Located in the “Gefyriakia” area south of Heraklion city, near existing university medical facilities, the overall development covers 81.440 m² of land within the university zone. The design addresses the site’s significant slope and Mediterranean environment, aiming to create functional, comfortable housing for students, including single, double, and family apartments, along with administrative, social, and recreational spaces. The buildings are planned to be four to five stories high to optimize land use while preserving open spaces for circulation and communal areas. Emphasis is placed on bioclimatic design, use of local natural materials, and integration with the landscape to minimize environmental impact. The project seeks to meet the growing demand for quality student housing in Crete by providing sustainable, well-connected, and inclusive living environments that support the university community’s needs.
